Recently, I read an interview with Lincoln Brewster. I think he is a great guitarist and worship leader. In the article he mentioned that he was developing a guitar with Fender that included “Ghost Mods.” I’m not sure what mods he would include on his guitar, but since it’s a Stratocaster there are some logical mods that are pretty standard upgrades. Here are some Mods I’ve done to my own Strat and they really make it sing.
- Treble Bypass Filter Mod – sometimes known as a treble bleed circuit alleviates the loss of high-end when you bring your volume down on the guitar.
- Recessed Mini-Toggle Switch – This toggle allows both the neck and bridge pickup to be combined.
- Switch from ceramic capacitors to paper in oil – There a difference for sure in tone between cap types. Not an improvement necessarily over one or the other, but more of a preference thing.
- Line the inside cavity with copper shielding – Reduction in unwanted noise can help with producing desired noise.
