I’ve received some questions about what our church timeline look like with regards to planning, choosing music, creative elements, designing the order and team scheduling. Here is a rough idea of our calendar.
- 1 year out: This is seen better here as a 9 month season. We put all creative energy into a September-May time table. The Summer months provide a “less-production”centric worship services often bringing in special guests, experimenting with various new worship ideas, and even doing a “best of” series in August that bring out all of the best services throughout the year.
- 6 months: This is the time table we work from for each of the major church calendar events: Fall Launch, Christmas, Easter (Lent), Mother’s Day (top 3 most attended church days as well). Though I collect ideas year round for these seasons, We don’t begin fleshing them out until about 6 months prior to each date.
- 3 months: At this point we know what the next series is and we are beginning to nail down specifics. Any major production elements are also beginning to move from the conceptual stage to the pre-production stage.
- 1 month-6 weeks: This is nuts and bolts. All musicians and other players are scheduled with about 90% of music available online ready to learn. Also, finalization of other elements happen here.
- 1 Week: Finalize all details.
